As a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Town boasts a colourful past and equally colourful buildings, many featuring the classic “Lunenburg bump”. The Town’s interesting history and many attractions are certainly worthy of a multi-day exploration.
Lunenburg and area is well known for its rich, natural beauty, rugged coasts, and of course its countless beaches! There are numerous hiking trails including the “Bay to Bay” trail which lies just below the chalets and connects Lunenburg and Mahone Bay. Kayakers and boating enthusiasts will also find ample opportunities to explore the area with launch access from the nearby sawpit wharf area. Hidden Gems to explore include the nearby community of Blue Rocks, the pristine Bachman’s beach in 2nd Peninsula, the Gaff Point trail at the end of Hirtle’s Beach in Kingsburg with its awe-inspiring coastal view, and the famous caves at Oven’s park… just to name a few. Bring your bicycles and explore it all at a slower, more rewarding pace!
